Galveston's prize venue for the performing arts! What an amazing facility! It's truly a pleasure to attend any performance here. From the Oak Ridge Boys to Lyell Lovett to Carol Burnet and even an audience interactve Sound of Music!. This place has it all. You must visit it the next time you're in Galveston.
Beautiful and the attendants showed us right to our seat. We went to see the 1930's silent film Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde and it was very entertaining.
Beautiful historic venue with an intimate feel. Only one event available in early August as they prepared for a new season. Disheartening to have to empty the water from my Smart Water bottle because an attendant accused me of possibly sneaking in alcohol. In the middle of the hottest and most humid weather when I needed to recover from a long run earlier, so dumping my water led to dehydration.
Amazing, you can just go and do the self guided tour, it’s only 5 dollars
We just attended the "Annie" production. We booked out tickets about 2.5 weeks ago. Sometimes I assume that the productions might be like community theatre. I was totally wrong about that! From the first scene, we realized this was something special. The children in the cast are AMAZING! The lead actress "Annie" was incredible and I felt incredibly blessed to have been able to see this show. The Grand is a beautiful venue. The rows are tight though with not much leg room. But our seats had great view. There are not enough restrooms, but intermission times are longer to accommodate that. Will definitely come back!
I love this venue. Super friendly staff to help you to your seat. Intimate seating and lovely box seats for a reasonable price.
Saw Jesus Christ superstar. It was awesome! Great seats for a very reasonable price. I bought my tickets straight from The Grand 1894 Opera House website a couple of weeks before the 2 day only performance. I got there early and secured a parking spot right in front of the theater. I enjoyed both the venue and the show.
First off, the staff was super friendly, helpful & informative.
The seating was comfortable, a great view, and the sound was fantastic.
The rest rooms were super clean & plenty of space.
